After Care

Following the microblading after-care instructions is very important to give your fully healed eyebrows the naturally beautiful look you want. Failure to follow these after-care instructions may result in infections, pigment loss or discoloration.

***After the microblading procedure, prevent hair, excessive water, soap, lotion, and makeup from coming in contact with your eyebrows for 15 days.

Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. While showering keep your face completely away from the shower head, or take a bath to avoid any water from contacting your microbladed eyebrows.

Itching and flaking may appear during the first ten days post procedure. Avoid picking or scratching as it can pull off scabs prematurely and cause patchy results or scarring.

READ THOROUGHLY!  It is essential that you follow these instructions after your Microblading session:

Day 1 (Day of treatment):  When the procedure has been completed, leave the gel on your brows for a minimum of 4 -6 hours.  Then gently clean the area with a very small amount of sterile water on a cotton pad, just barely damp, NOT wet. Then using a Q-tip, apply the antibiotic ointment.

Day 2:  When you wake up, gently wipe the area with a small amount of sterile water on a cotton pad. Be extra careful not to rub the brows hard, tug or scrub the brows. This step is very important as it helps to reduce scabbing by minimizing the accumulation of lymph, which is what the skin excretes to form a scab.

Do this step every 4-5 hours to avoid any build-up of blood/lymph.

Using a Q-tip, apply a very small amount of the antibiotic ointment to brows (very small amount-like half the size of a grain of rice for both brows). This is just to add a small amount of moisture – brows should not appear greasy, glossy or shiny, if they do, you have used too much. Do not use aggressive movement/manipulation of the skin- be gentle. Make sure your hands are clean before touching your brows.

*** Gently apply the antibiotic ointment with a cotton swab and clean hands twice a day, at night time and morning time, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself.  Continue apply the ointment twice a day until your brows completely heal (approximately 2 weeks).

Day 4-14: If your brows feel tight or dry, apply a very thin layer of the antibiotic ointment with a cotton swab after cleansing the brow area with a small amount of sterile water on a cotton pad.

On day 4 or 5, if your brow area itches, DO NOT scratch. Apply Hydrocortisone 1%,  Anti-Itch cream,  to soothe the itching, but only if the wound is closed. Reapply as often as necessary.

If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact  BrowsbyBach @ 425-229-0290 immediately, to discuss further instructions.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.

The below instructions must be strictly followed after your microblading procedure

  • Do not rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss!

  • Completely avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for a minimum of 4 weeks after your procedure.  Direct sunlight can cause the pigment to change color while it is healing and can also cause hyperpigmentation and scarring.

  • Avoid pool, swimming, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, hot showers and/or hot baths for 3 weeks.

  • Avoid sweating, practicing sports for a full 14 days. Any physical effort, gym, hot weather, any other activity that may cause sweating through or on the brows will expel pigment from the dermis producing poor results.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face/brows for the first 10 days.

  • Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face for the first 10 days.

  • No makeup or skincare products to be used on the treated area for two weeks.

  • No cleanser, facial products of any kind, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion over the brow area for 4 weeks.

  • No laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck for 4 weeks.

  • No exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have known to cause a shift in color and premature fading.

  • No performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris..

  • No drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds

  • No driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles.

  • No touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care with a cotton swab.

  • Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 4 weeks after your procedure.

  • Not allowing any water to touch the brows! No shower stream over brows. Wash face CAREFULLY with a washcloth or cleansing wipes, avoid brow area.

  • After 20 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading.

*** Touch-ups and/or correction of the shape-design is recommended only after 8 weeks.

Healing Process

The healing process that can be very concerning for some, especially those who are not prepared with what to expect. There are stages of the healing process where you may think “that’s not good!”, and you may regret your decision to undergo microblading. To help reduce anxiety, the stages of the microblading healing process are detailed below:

Please Note: Everyone heals differently so these times are only a general guideline.

**This picture is NOT my work, but represents the healing process well.

DAY 1:

  • Eyebrows look amazing immediately after microblading appointment

  • Pigment gradually gets darker throughout the day

WEEK 1:

  • Pigment reaches darkest level on day two

  • Light scabbing develops where microblading strokes occurred

  • Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. This might give you the impression that the pigment is fading too quickly, however, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows

WEEK 2:

  • Scabbing from microblading strokes begin to peel and flake off, sometimes revealing no definite, visible color in skin

  • Your brows may look as though the pigment has completely faded – do not panic – take a deep breath and trust the process

WEEK 3-4:

  • Pigment in skin continues to oxidize and microbladed strokes begin to reappear in color intended from the beginning, but some strokes come back looking patchy

  • Your brows may still look a little patchy or uneven, but the pigment will start to “reappear” as the pigment settles and the healing continues

WEEK 6:

  • At this stage the color of brows area complete and all redness is gone. Brows have fully healed. Now enjoy them!

  • For some clients they need a touch-up to make any needed adjustments

  • Beautiful eyebrow enhancement/transformation is complete after final touch-up

* You may get your perfecting Touch-up procedure done at the  8th week.  NO SOONER to allow for complete healing of the brows.

* Pro-Tip: Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade quickly.

* When using foundation, avoid the area of your healed eyebrows. If foundation covers healed brows, your eyebrows will appear lighter

* For some clients they need a touch-up to make any needed adjustments.
